RIGAUD Hyacinthe (et atelier ?) (Perpignan 1659-Paris 1743) - Lot 40
RIGAUD Hyacinthe (et atelier ?) (Perpignan 1659-Paris 1743) Study of the hand (of a woman and the silhouette of a young girl circa 1692). Black pencil and white chalk on blue paper. H. 26.5 L. 21 cm Provenance: Paris, Hôtel Drouot, PIASA, December 10, 2003, no. 57 (Largillière) Bibliography: 1 Stephan Perreau, Hyacinthe Rigaud, Catalogue raisonné de l'œuvre. Dessins ; Blog " Hyacinthe Rigaud à la Galerie Aaron, Atelier d'Hyacinthe Rigaud Etudes pour le portrait de la famille d'Ecquevilly (vers 1692) (avril 2011) 2 - Stephan Perreau, Hyacinthe Rigaud. Catalog concis de l'œuvre, P. 277 1, p.97 (after Rigaud); pl. XVI (colors), "Etude pour le portrait de la famille d'Ecquevilly, 1692", France, Part. coll. (Nouvelles Presses du Langedoc 2013). 3 - Ariane James - Sarazin, Catalogue raisonné Hyacinthe Rigaud, Tome II, 3 Catalogue des dessins; D.9, p. 593 (Rigaud). The author likens the hand study to that of Madame Keller (1686) and indicates that the drawing "could be preparatory to the portrait of Madame d'Ecquevilly and her three children (1692)" (Editions Faton 2016). The study of the right hand visible at the top right of the sheet could have been executed at a later date by one of H. Rigaud's collaborators for a family portrait.
