Vladimir NECHOUMOFF (circa 1900-1977) Fortress by the Sea, 1921 Gouache on paper, signed and dated 1921. 17 x 21 cm Vladimir Pavlovich Nechoumoff studied at the Kharkov School of Fine Arts. He emigrated at the time of the Revolution, initially settling in Istanbul. He then moved to Paris, frequented the "Grande Chaumière" and was a member of the Russian association "l'Icône". Before the war, his studio was located at 4 rue d'Arsonval in Paris. At the end of his life, he set up his own ceramics studio in Caracas. He exhibited regularly at the Salon des Indépendants between 1938 and 1947. These works were mainly executed during his stay in Istanbul and have a very Art Deco character.
