REPINE IIya (1844-1930) and studio Portrait of Baron Nicolas Arkadievitch von Stempel , Lieutenant General of the Imperial Russian Army (1961- 1944) Oil on canvas signed and dated lower left 1906. 150.5 x 100 cm Baron Stempel took part in the confrontations between Russian and German troops in Prussia in 1914. After emigrating, he became the spokesman for his Kirasiski regiment. In this portrait, he is shown wearing the Romanian Order of the Crown and the Legion of Honor.
