George BRAQUE Milarepa. Tibetan magician-poet-rite. 11th century. Translation by Jacques Bacot. Paris, Maeght Editeur, 1950. In-4 oblong, 23 x 32.5 cm comprising 26 ff. 2 first and 2 last blanks. In sheets, in parchment-covered cardboard folder and lined slipcase (wear). Rare edition, illustrated with 5 full-page compositions and 11 lettering, etched and printed by Georges Braque on his own press. The text also includes typographical ornaments designed by the artist. Embellished with a black ink drawing signed by Georges Braque and dated 1951 with dispatch, and a complete suite of five etchings. Limited edition of 110 copies on handmade Auvergne paper, air-dried on rope at Moulin Richard de Bas. One of only ten off-price copies printed specifically for Jean Signovert, a collaborator of Georges Braque. Small loss in the lower corner of one composition. Inscription in pen on the publisher's slipcase; small tear in the cardboard.
