Girard Perregaux Reference 49460 Monte Carlo 1965. Limited-edition steel chronograph with automatic movement. Round case, smooth bezel, fluted crown, round pump pushers, screw-down caseback with engraving of the 52nd Monte Carlo Rally in 1965. Cream dial, applied gold Arabic numerals, black-painted tackymetric scale, luminescent gold leaf hands, red-painted central right-hand counterweight second hand, perpetual seconds at 3 o'clock, totalizers for minutes (over 30 minutes) at 9 o'clock and hours (over 12 hours) at 6 o'clock, date window with red writing at 4:30. Light brown leather strap, steel folding clasp. Accompanied by surboite, wooden case with commemorative plaque, booklets and user's manual. Case, dial, bracelet, buckle and movement signed Boitier numbered 135 out of 250. Self-winding mechanical movement. Diameter: 40 mm - Strap length: 17 - 20 cm Condition report: Very good cosmetic condition, fine wear scratches, fine patina on strap, watch works at time of appraisal, service recommended. Note: Won by the Mäkinen / Easter duo, the 1965 Monte Carlo Rally saw a red BMC Mini with white stripes win for the second year running, against much faster competitors. As a tribute to this famous victory on snow-covered roads, Girard Perregaux, famous for its automotive partnerships with Ferrari and more recently Aston Martin, offered this chronograph in the colors of the victorious car.
