Jules Alexandre GRUN (1868-1934) Set of drawings and lithographs including: - Two greeting cards, one on Chine appliqué signed in pencil, the other on vellum - Elegant lithograph signed in the plate. - Two screen-printed posters, printer Chaix, dry stamp. Three posters enclosed (accidents). Provenance: - Jules Alexandre Grün (1868-1938) - Collection Jean Jules Grün (1911-1985) by inheritance, - Collection Thierry Tessier né en 1980 par donation A fan of the Cabaret du Chat noir at just 14, Jules Grün discovered a feverish, festive nightlife there, and his future vocation as a painter and poster artist. When he met Léon Xanrof (1867-1953), he began a career in illustration, which led to satirical drawings for the press. In 1896, he was one of the founders of the "Vache Enragée" cavalcade in Montmartre, along with his friends Xanrof, Puvis de Chavannes and Adolphe Willette. He was awarded the Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur in 1911.
