Paris, Hubert & Co., 1806; in-16, paperback. First edition adorned with a (curious, striking, beautiful, charming) frontispiece engraved on metal by Bovinet<<<. A poem in response to Berchoux’s *Gastronomie*. The same artist had engraved Berchoux’s frontispiece. In the caption, a diner says: << ...Jai perdu la vie ... accusez de mon triste sort lauteur de la Gastronomie >>.—A short gallery of verses in the center of the volume.—Included: BERCHOUX, Joseph. *La Gastronomie*, a poem. Paris, Giguet and Michaud, 1805; 16mo, fawn half-basane, smooth spine decorated with gilt motifs, red label. Fourth expanded edition, as indicated. Attractive frontispiece by S. Mirys. Small tear at the lower corner of the first two leaves. Short gallery of verses on a few leaves in the middle. First edition in which Berchoux gives his name.—Ex-libris of Dr. René Chauveau.
