Signed lower right, with extensive dedications and annotations. 130 x 195 cm Provenance: - Jean Digne Collection - Private Parisian collection This painting is a tribute to Jean DIGNE, director of the French Association for Artistic Action and later director of the Musée du Montparnasse. Richly annotated and inscribed by his colleagues and artists, this painting by Hervé Di Rosa was created at the end of his assignment in Naples in 1999. Through the image of the Earth embracing a heart, the canvas celebrates the dissemination of French art and culture. The ocean liner depicted within it, for example, represents one of the association’s initiatives in the 1980s, when it was sent to Latin America.
